Super-Quick Quick Takes

1. My brother and his wife are in town this week, so this afternoon we bundled into our rain gear and headed to Caltagirone--officially beginning our Sicily-Sightseeing Extravaganza.

2. Katherine led the way...

3. ...to our favorite pizzeria for lunch. Of course, in Sicily no one actually serves pizza in the afternoon, so we ordered an array of tempting dishes: pistacchio farfalle, eggplant penne, and savory bits of perfectly-cooked artichoke. Needless to say, the meal was a delight.

4. We even learned a new Italian word--pozzo--when an incredibly friendly waitress stopped at our table, English-to-Italian dictionary in hand, and invited the kids to come back and see the restaurant's "pit". Unsure, the girls ran off (with Uncle Brian and Aunt Siobhan in tow) to investigate. They soon discovered an old well--full of water, but almost hidden--in the restaurant's sunny back room.

5. After lunch, Uncle Brian and Aunt Siobhan took the girls out to climb the steps...

6. ...so they could photograph the view at the top.

7. Chris waited with me and photographed the view at the bottom because, yes,

I'm still hobbling along.

Have a happy weekend, everyone! And for more quick takes, click here!

  3. You look lovely on crutches.

What a beautiful photo of you and your sibs and tots, too!

Oh, I long for Sicilian restaurant hospitality. I'd love for a waitress to steal my tots away for a look at "the pit." I'll bet P and K were delighted.

Great use of QT, I think.
